Subscriber-specific service
Building new services on the top of the existing network
New subscriber-specific services can be implemented on
the top of the existing network and thus keep the old products
and services beside. The existing customer database and the billing
software are integrated to the implementation of the new services.
Similarly, all existing system parts and information
can be utilized as modular building blocks. The required new
blocks are SNE (Staselog Network Equalizer) and an integration
software. The integration software gathers information
from the system, processes information and makes decisions,
and finally, distributes new information in the system,
including SNE. The interface to the SNE is in XML format,
which enables
easy system integration.
Increasing productivity by automatization
All system operations related to the broadband business
can be integrated and automatized. For example, a subscriber
could be able to subscribe a broadband connection, to modify
the subscription, and to terminate the subscription on-line in
the network as a self service using a browser. One could also
select and activate operator's or third-party services with the same
browser. The web interface can be embeded to the integration
software unless there already is a web server that can be
modified to serve this purpose.
Similarly, the integration software can authenticate
a subscriber and track the current IP adress using
the DHCP server and other system facilities. It also
processes the subscribers' requests and makes the
corresponding modifications in the system, including
the configuration of SNE. The integration software
reports to the system supervisor and notifies
the subscriber regarding the modifications. The
messages can be send via SMS in case the subscription
is terminated or the subscriber is isolated from
others due to viruses or other similar problems.
SNE provides the integration software with traffic
statistics and receives new configurations for
traffic management.
