07 Mar 2006 - Call for free with your new cellular phoneMaking calls at home or office may become free of charge for those using Nokia 6136 or other similar phone. This phone is capable using the commonly available wireless broadband network for the calls. In some cities there are WLAN networks with unlimited public access free of charge. The latest such network is OpenEspa in Helsinki. This network has a privat owner, unlike the other open Finnish city networks. According to The Register, the new cellular phones compete with Skype: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/02/14/uma_voip_analysis/ According to Nokia, the new WLAN/VoIP+gsm mobile phones - such as 6136 - will have a substantial effect to price of mobile calls, especially in areas covered by WLAN. The pricing solutions will be similar to the current DSL-subscriptions. Staselog's next generation bandwidth management solution is currently used in Wireless LANs covering city areas. According to Mr. Jarkko Niittylahti, the managing director of Staselog Ltd, also the new 3G cellular networks will be a growing market for Staselog.
